For the third year we are organising a film festival for the youngsters: an animated filmmaking workshop for children aged 7 to 12, where they make a short film themselves from drawings and figures cut out and with their own voices. They do not make a sketch of something, but a story that starts and finishes and which is a finished product. We propose the workshop, one in Cambrils and the other in Reus, so that children can also be participants of the festival from within it.
The aim of the workshop is to boost creativity and externalise the emotions of the children through drawing and handicrafts. They thus show us their dreams, ideas and motivations in order to build a story between all of them. They discover how to get this story across through the creation of a storyboard, see how the world where the action takes place emerges and finally see how their characters take on life with the animation and dubbing that they do themselves.
In the workshop the children have the opportunity to observe and learn different techniques of animation, whether digital, through scanners and computers or manual with the frame by frame technique over murals. They discover the world of audio and dubbing, giving a voice to their own characters and more important of all, they have fun doing what they like the most: inventing and drawing.
The short films that come out of both workshops will be presented within the programming of the FEC, both in the Cultural Centre of Cambrils and the Santa LlĂșcia Hall in Reus.
